FAFU hopes to establish school transport system that would enable its children undertake the much crucial exposure trips as well as participation in joint sports and festivals both at county and national levels. The bus project is also designed to add value to revenue generation for the school.
The Purpose to have a school bus is two-fold:
- For provision of cheaper transport for educational, recreational trips as well enabling participation in various tournaments and festivals by FAFU children. It is notable that FAFU children emerged in position one consecutively during the 2016 and 2017 National music festivals. Currently FAFU uses hired transport for such activity trips that proves expensive.
- For generation of revenue for FAFU school. The bus would be available for hire by other institutions within and outside Kibera for their trips. Currently majority of schools in Kibera depend on hired means of transport from the expensive commercial transport sector.
The Strategy is to purchase a new or a second hand bus in good condition and get a driver who is only paid when on a trip. The revenue generated is to help in maintenance of the bus.
